Struggling With the Enemy While Remembering Who God Is

Published on March 14, 2026 at 7:41 AM

Here lately I have been struggling with, “Am I a good enough Christian?” I need guidance on the way true believers are to act, how to process things that are not of the Lord, and how to thrive within the Lord. As a new believer, I struggle with anger, the ways of the flesh, as the old me comes to mind. Sometimes I feel that I am under spiritual attack, and I allow satan to enter my mind, and suddenly I believe the lies of the destroyer.

Anger, frustrations, cussing, and anxiety are my biggest struggles. Some say, oh if you are a born-again believer, you no longer struggle with the old ways of the flesh. I find that a little hard to believe because even though as believers, we strive to be better, we strive to live better lives, but I feel as if we are taught to be “perfect”, and when we fail perfection, we feel like failures as believers, and trying to please God. That's what the enemy wants you to feel, and most, including myself, don’t reach out to others in fear of rejection or condemnation.

As a young child, with ADHD, I always felt like everything within myself had to be perfect, and unfortunately, I have obsessed over this trait as an adult. When things aren’t perfect or going perfectly planned, I tend to get overwhelmed. That is when the panic of anxiety come to the surface, and I express my anxiety in anger. So, when I am out and about in public, I try my hardest to be “perfect”, but it is impossible. Someone will cut me off in traffic just to go slower than the targeted speed limit, or when I am in a hurry, someone is always in the left lane in turtle mode, and never moves over, patients can be hard to deal with, etc. Regardless of what I do or where I go, I am always annoyed by someone or something. Is it just me?

Sometimes I pray, and I feel so far away from God, and it’s not Him, but I know who it is. It is the one that lurks in the darkness. The one that comes to kill, and steal, and destroy. He can make me feel as if I am going crazy. I try to be a better person, but my anger issues feel as if I will never enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Scriptures help, prayer helps, but sometimes I feel like I am in the dark. I feel alone. I feel abandoned. Do any of you ever feel this way? Let me warn you and remind myself that satan wants you to feel defeated. He wants you to feel like a mentally insane, crazy, low down no good for nothing person, that will never be worthy of God’s goodness, that God has turned His back on you, that God doesn’t love you.

BUT…...Can I give you and I some hope in the midst of the chaos? Look at it like this, if God didn’t love you, and God was turning His back on you, then why did Jesus die? What does John 3:16 say? “That God loved the world (and every person in it) that HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have ETERNAL LIFE! AND…  look in Romans 5:8 BUT God shows HIS LOVE FOR US in that while we were SINNERS, Christ DIED FOR US! Can we help one another out? Does this sound like a God that would ever turn His back on us? Absolutely NOT!

Christ died for you, for me, for EVERYONE! So, the next time you and I feel anything that is not of God whether it is rage, anger, anxiety, depression, suicidal, panic, or whatever the emotion may be, tell the enemy, call him by name, and all his demons that lurk in the darkness to SHOVE IT! We are not and will no longer allow him to steal our joy! Joy comes from the Lord! Do not ever allow satan to steal what doesn’t belong to him! Do not let him win! Do not allow him to make you feel defeated! You are SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE ALMIGHTY KING!!!

If some of these things are what you struggle with, may I pray for you? If so, email me at findhope@remaininfaith.com and let me send you a personal pray that is specifically for your needs. May I ask for you to pray for me also? This has truly been a struggle for me lately. We are not alone in this. God is always with you, but the enemy wants you to think and feel abandoned.  May I remind you Who has already won and Who defeats the enemy in the end? You and I are included and NOTHING can change that! Satan cannot change that, his demons cannot change that, people, money, power, NOTHING can change the fact that you are children of God, as long as you are a believer in Christ! GOD WINS! ALL DAY, EVERYDAY, GOD WINS!!!

Father God,

I just thank you Father for who You are, and for Who Your Son is! Lord I just praise Your Mighty Name! Lord, guide us, be with us, and let us draw closer to you in our times of despair. Let us die to flesh, die to self and allow You to fill our hearts with joyfulness and the true love of Christ. We are unworthy of Your goodness, but praise You Father that You saw worth in us, for allowing Your Son to die for us, so we can live to bring all honor and glory to YOU. Show mercy upon us and give us Your peace when the enemy strikes. Allow us to be reminded who we are in You. Give us the strength, courage and boldness to tell the enemy to flee from us so we can live in peace and joyfulness with You. I give You all the praise, honor and glory for it all.

-Amen

1 Peter 5: 6-10

6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties in Him, because He cares for you. 8 Be somber-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. 10 And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.

I pray for you today as you read this blog, and I pray you have enjoyed the message God has laid on my heart to share with you all today.
